Remember when Facebook first introduced their new On This Day feature, some of us were forced to revisit painful memories of ex-boyfriends and girlfriends along with all other sorts of memories we’d rather forget that are stored on the site?
The social media site rectified the problem soon after by introducing a memory filter that allowed you to specify certain individuals or dates you don’t want it to remind you of.
And now they have done the same for the Your Year In Review feature which they rolled out this week.
Facebook is allowing users to weed out photos that they don’t want to see in the Your Year In Review section.
The feature is available to all 1.55 billion active users and is apparently using the same algorithm used to power its On This Day feature.
“We heard feedback last year that we need to do more to select the photos that are most enjoyable to people and make it easier for them to edit the photos they see and share in their Year In Review,” a spokesman for the social media site said in a statement.
Facebook will automatically suggest 10 photos from the past year when Your Year In Review appears in your News Feed and then allow you to delete photos you don’t want, thereby having complete control over what re-appears on your timeline.
