Sweaty armpits could become a thing of the past – if you are willing to walk around wearing clip-on fans.
A Japanese gadget-making company is selling tiny fans that you can attach to the sleeves of your shirt (or wherever necessary) to stay cool during soaring temperatures.
Sure it sounds bizarre, but these gadgets made by Thanko are currently on sale in Japan.
Described as “armpit coolers”, these gizmos come in three different intensity levels which you can adjust depending on how hot and sweaty you are feeling.
The fans weigh just 30 grams and measure 2.5in x 2in x 0.6in (6.5cm x 5cm x 1.5cm).
But despite their diminutive size, the devices aren’t completely discreet. While they are intended to sit inside the garment, the clips that attach them to the clothing are visible from the outside.
Each device is powered by two AAA batteries. If you want to charge using a USB, the fan will last between five and nine hours on a single charge.
So how does it work?
The basic principle is that air generated by the fans circulates through the clothes – lowering the body temperature and consequently decreasing the amount of sweat produced by the wearer. (Anything to stay cool during a heatwave, right?)
One thing we aren’t sure about is just how noisy the fan is – you might want to do a test ride before venturing out in public wearing these clip-on coolers.
The fans are sold in pairs and cost 3,800 yen (£27).
