Google confirmed a new version of their popular Nexus 5 – the Nexus 5X, which again will be made by LG.

The device has been given an improved camera thanks to a Sony imaging sensor, and a 12.3 megapixel rear camera that has laser auto-focus, as well as the ability to capture video in 4K – four times the definition of HD.

The 5X also comes with a 5.2-inch full HD screen, and has the Snapdragon 808 processor, as well as something Google calls Android Sensor Hub. This is a smart processor that responds with information and notifications when you prompt it; lowering power at other times when the phone is not in use.

The 5X, alongside the also announced 6P will also be the first devices to run the latest version of Android; 6.0 Marshmallow.

The LG-built phone also comes with a fingerprint scanner built into the rear casing, something Google is calling Nexus Imprint. The firm says the placement of the scanner suits how users naturally hold the phone.

The scanner can be used to not only unlock the device, but also to complete purchases using Android Pay, the firm’s upcoming mobile payment system.

Google confirmed the 5X is available to pre-order from today, and will go on-sale at later in October with prices to start at £339.
