Google Street View is a very useful tool for getting to know an area you’ve never visited, or exploring a landmark without leaving your home.

But the visual mapping technology has also been the portal for some unusual discoveries down the years, including a man dressed as Where’s Wally waving at the camera, and an ornamental shark protruding from the roof of a house in Oxford.

Now an eagle-eyed user has spotted some potentially problematic driving on the part of a Google car in Glasgow, highlighting a nearby road sign on one Glasgow street that seems to clock the car doing 37 miles per hour in what appears to be a 30mph zone. Other signs close by also appear to suggest the car is about to enter, or has just left, a 20mph zone.

The image, supported by reflections in the windows on the right, shows the car heading towards the sign with no traffic in front of it.

There’s been no word from Google yet on the incident, but a reminder to drivers to exercise more caution while driving a vehicle equipped with a 360-degree camera seems likely to follow.
