One of the most anticipated sequels in gaming history will finally work its way into the hands of players from midnight as Halo 5: Guardians goes on sale.
The game has been three years in the making, and there’s some added intrigue in that 343 Industries are at the development helm for just the second time, with Bungie focusing on all things Destiny these days.
The presence of Destiny and other such first-person shooters (FPS) means that Halo 5 will arrive in an extremely competitive field. Destiny has had a year and two major versions of the game to cement a place in the market and a fan base.
The various trailers for the game have also thrown up some interesting questions and teasers for fans.
Is Master Chief a traitor and the villain now? Who exactly is Spartan Locke? These are pretty big questions to answer just on the story, well before we get to the gameplay and of course, multiplayer aspects of the game.
There’s the new Warzone multiplayer feature, which can support up to 24 players.
On top of that, Microsoft is planning on marking the occasion with a very big live event.
There’s no such thing as over-hyping a Halo launch.
And for gamers who still want a little bit more, Halo 5: Guardians naturally has its own collector’s edition Xbox One to mark the launch.
But this level of fanfare probably shouldn’t be surprising – this is an Xbox exclusive, and as such means this is one of the primary reasons Microsoft has to offer why you should buy this and not a PlayStation 4.
So expect Microsoft to be shouting loud and proud throughout the day, and well into the night.
