HTC has revealed two new smartphones designed to look premium while costing a lot less than other flagship models out there.
The new Desire 10 comes in both a pro and lifestyle version, both with a metal and gold design finished in one of four colours. The pro comes with a superior camera – 20 megapixels in the rear lens – as well as a new feature called Selfie Panorama in the front-facing camera that enable users to take wide-angle selfies.
However, at present the pro is not set to come to the UK, with only the lifestyle model due to reach these shores.
The Desire 10 lifestyle ticks all the boxes for what we like about HTC smartphones though, it has its impressive BoomSound speaker system, as well as the ability to play Hi Res audio. Like the pro it has a 5.5-inch HD display and a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera.
It comes in two storage options – 16 or 32GB – as well as four colour finishes.
It’s solid mid-range phone territory for HTC, but the metal body and gold trim is aiming to bring a flagship look to the device. The price, luckily, isn’t in the eye-watering flagship levels, instead set at £249 SIM free.
The Taiwanese firm is looking to rebuild some momentum in its smartphone business, which has struggled to keep pace with some of its rivals, or match the across-the-board love its One M8 phone received when it was launched in 2014.
