Most of us – probably on more than one occasion – have experienced the frustration of dropping our smartphone and smashing the screen.
It certainly makes reading those WhatsApp messages or catching up with Bake Off on the train to work a bit more difficult, as those annoying cracks weave across the screen.
The good news is you’re not alone – according to some new research almost a third of us (31%) have broken a mobile phone, and Londoners are the clumsiest, with 44% of them admitting to having broken a phone.
Men are the clumsier sex too, with more than half of the breakages reported in the capital (54%) coming from men.
The research was done by smart device repair firm iCracked, who also reported that most repair requests came on a Monday morning, with users blaming damage picked up over the weekend on a raucous night out.
In honour of the research, iCracked opened their own bar in central London – the area of the capital most prone to phone damage – but it was a bar with a twist.
It comes with padded walls, floors and furniture, as well as glasses that are too narrow to drop your phone in to.
There’s even a sign in the toilets reminding you to remove your phone from your back pocket to prevent an unfortunate drop.
Londoners, you have been warned.
