They say it’s all in the details, and in iOS 9 Apple is set to make a small but significant change to one of its staple features.
Until now, the letters on the keyboard on both iPhone and iPad have always stayed upper case, no matter if you were typing in capital letters or not. The colour of the shift key – the arrow icon blocked out in black – was the only way to tell if you were in upper case or not.
But that is changing in iOS 9, as early users of the beta have reported, with the keyboard letters switching to lower case as you type.
Though it appears that even with the change you can’t please everyone.
The issue has been one that’s popped up plenty of times in the past – with many jailbreak apps adding the feature as users became annoyed at the lack of an obvious sign of which case you were typing in.
iOS 9 is not due out until the autumn – alongside the next generation of the iPhone, but plenty of developers and early adopters are testing the beta right now and reporting their findings.
