A device that can alert users if they begin to smell of body odour has been launched in Japan.
The Kunkun Body, created by Konica Minolta, uses a sensor to measure body smells at four points on the body – near the head, behind the ear, the armpit and feet – before providing analysis via a smartphone app.
According to the developers, recent studies in the country have shown the number one etiquette concern in the workplace is body smell – particularly during the hot summer months.
Research also found that many workers found it difficult to speak out to colleagues on the matter – and sparked the creation of the Kunkun Body.
The small sensor is designed to be carried around in the user’s pocket or bag and, when used, will mark your body odour out of 100 – the lower it is, the better.
For now, there are no plans to sell the Kunkun Body outside of Japan, but those inside the country are being offered early discounts on the retail price of £206.
The devices are expected to begin delivery later this year.
