As technology advances, cars are getting smarter, with more sensors, cameras and software enabling them to back-up human control and even begin to take command in some instances.
However, it’s not possible for many of us to afford the latest Tesla – complete with AutoPilot among other features – and so many might not see these changes for some time.
That’s where Logitech, the firm more famous for making BlueTooth keyboards, comes in. They’ve built a new handsfree smartphone system for cars that uses voice and easy hand gestures to control all the key aspects of your phone that are useful in a car, including navigation and music.
It’s limited to Android for now and appears to still need a little work, but the system has been specifically designed to suit any car, old or new, with both a dashboard mount version or one that slots on to your air vent.
The system, which launches in the UK on Wednesday, is said to greatly reduce the amount of time drivers currently spend glancing away from the road to look at their phones by instead relying on voice feedback and hand gestures.
