We’ve all been there – a late-night binge-watching session that ends up with you sleeping through episode eight.
Now Netflix thinks they have a solution that involves potential users getting a bit techie and crafty, and they call them Netflix socks.
Now, before you get too excited, Netflix aren’t selling these, but rather offering up the plans, instructions and code on how to build the sensors to place into your own socks from their “Make It” site. They also have sock designs available to download with designs based on some of the site’s most popular shows.
The technology in question is actigraphy, which monitors movement. In essence, you’re building an accelerometer for your socks and programming it so that when you stop moving for a prolonged period (so have fallen asleep), the socks can talk to communicate with your Netflix and pause the show.
Peace of mind while you’re binge-watching Netflix might be the best Christmas present we could ask for.
