Smartwatches flooding the market are vying for our attention with loads of state-of-the-art features, but there’s one company that wants to stand out from the crowd with a product aimed at the elderly.

Omate’s new smartwatch – the S3 – is built specifically for seniors and comes with built-in GPS and 3G.

The standalone watch, powered by Android, will allow users to leave their phone at home and handy SOS buttons mean wearers can forward their location to selected contacts in case of an emergency, using either Wi-Fi or a 3G connection.

The watch is equipped with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

However, unlike other Android smartwatches that try to squeeze all of the features onto your wrist, Omate has kept things pretty simple with S3 by sticking to just the essential apps.

The stripped-down version of the watch comes with a reminder system to help users stay on top of their pill-taking routine and a pedometer to help keep track of how many steps they have taken.

The battery is believed to last up to three days and charging is done with a microUSB cable.
