Microsoft could be about to unveil a major new feature for Windows 10

Microsoft holds its annual developer conference this week and is expected to unveil a new feature for Windows 10 that revolves around its signature Live Tiles.

At Microsoft Build in San Francisco, the technology giant is hosting a session called ‘What’s New for Tiles and Toast Notifications’, with the description that goes with it reading: “Live Tiles are evolving with two highly-requested surprises that you won’t want to miss.”

Reports suggest that since Windows 10 was expected to ship with interactive Live Tiles when it launched last summer, it’s more than likely that this feature could be at the centre of the announcement.

The feature would give users the ability to interact with different apps directly from the Tiles – including answering email and messages without leaving the Tiles screen.

In addition, concept video from Microsoft has re-surfaced that suggests the company has been thinking about such a thing for some time.

The announcement on Live Tiles is expected to be part of a hefty update to Windows 10 that Microsoft is rumoured to be ready to discuss at Build.

Some reports suggest the firm has so much to show off that it could be rolled out in two phases – the second half of which would not be until next year.
