For many of us, our creative peak has been when we opened the Microsoft Paint app and freely used the various brushes on offer.
Much like Solitaire and Minesweeper, the app was a staple part of entertainment in earlier editions of Windows, but Microsoft has done little with the app in recent years.
That looks set to change, with a promotional video showing a new version leaking over the weekend.
The new Paint is already said to have been made available to Microsoft testers, while rumours and supposedly leaked screenshots have been doing the rounds for some time, but this is the most complete looking version of a new Paint app that we’ve seen. Impressively, with 3D at the heart of it.
Paint is clearly no longer going to be placed as a tool to be used just for aimless doodling. The 3D tools being added and the detailed nature of images seen in the video suggest a more professional edge to the software.
Not only that, but seeing as Paint will naturally work on the Surface tablet, the app should feel more mobile than ever before too.
