Microsoft’s upgrade offer to Windows 10 will finish at the end of July – and the “Get Windows 10″ upgrade notifications will follow soon after.
Users of PCs operating on Windows 7 and 8.1 have been able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free since July 29 2015 and the company has confirmed it is planning to end the offer on July 29 2016.
For users who have resisted the move to Windows 10, the update prompts at the bottom of the screen will begin to be disabled from the same date.
In a statement to WinBeta, Microsoft said: “Details are still being finalised, but on July 29 the Get Windows 10 app that facilitates the easy upgrade to Windows 10 will be disabled and eventually removed from PCs worldwide. Just as it took time to ramp up and roll out the Get Windows 10 app, it will take time to ramp it down.”
