Nintendo says it will reveal “major details” about the new Switch console early next year.
A live presentation – streamed online – will take place in Tokyo on January 13 next year, when Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima will reveal the exact launch date. He will also talk about the games being developed for the hybrid system, which can be used as both a home console and handheld device.
Much has been made of little information on the Switch, with only a three-minute teaser trailer containing fleeting looks at various games, to go on so far.
Even that content is still subject to change, with Nintendo reinforcing a point earlier this week that nothing that appeared in the trailer on a gaming front was set in stone. Developers Bethesda and 2K, whose titles featured prominently in the video, have made no promises about Skyrim and NBA 2K being available on Switch.
It’s hoped that the Tokyo event will also see the price and various controller bundles announced.
The message very much remains “wait and see”, although at least with the January date, Nintendo fans now know how long they have to wait.
