No one can quite believe Sony Animation is making an Emoji film

Is this for real? Granted we’ve been obsessed with emojis and it’s the fastest growing language, but an entire movie dedicated to emojis is like… WTF?

Apparently, Sony Pictures Animation has just won a bidding war for an animated film pitch beating Warner Bros and Paramount to it.

It may sound hard to believe but if all goes well, those little emojis you send via social media and text messaging could become a multimillion-dollar motion picture.

According to Deadline, the idea was pitched by screenplay writer Eric Siegel and Anthony Leondis (director of Kung Fu Panda: Series of the Masters).

So what would an emoji film look like?

We have no clue… but we bet Sony must have their smiley faces on and already mentally counting those $$$s in their pockets after their major coup.
