Out shopping and playing Pokemon Go? Now your phone won't die

Pokemon Go fanatics doing a spot of shopping at Highcross Leicester or Brent Cross shopping centres this Saturday can heave a sigh of relief: Your phone won’t run out of battery when you’re in the middle of the game.

There’s nothing worse than your phone dying when catching rare Pokemon, so Hammerson shopping centres have set up a dedicated team called the Recharge Rescuers.

Staff will roam the shopping centres, armed with portable battery chargers to help anyone who finds themselves in dire straits. It will allow Pokemon trainers to continue playing the game, without having to visit one of the lockable charging stations.

“Pokémon Go has taken the UK by storm,” explains Fiona Campbell-Roberts, UK head of marketing at Hammerson, “and as we’ve now hit the school holiday season we know our customers, especially those with young families, will want to keep playing, even whilst they shop.

“Our Recharge Rescuers will be on hand to help people power up on the go and keep on playing for longer.”

The Recharge Rescuers will be trialled this Saturday. Who knows – depending on success, they might be rolled out all over the country.
