Printing photos is not something that many of us do any more – scrolling through your camera roll or social network profile is how we reminisce these days.
However, that doesn’t change the fact that many people have dozens, if not more, of albums filled with physical photos from a time when the clothes and hair were far more embarrassing and technology didn’t give us the opportunity to store photos digitally.
Google has just announced a new app that is trying to combat that.
The app works by having users take a photo of the physical image, and then capture it from four more points, so PhotoScan can get a detailed and glare-free look at the image.
The app then stitches it together to create a final, digital version of the original. Users can then go back and edit the image if they so wish, adjusting where the corners sit should the app have not got it quite right.
Those with a Google Photos account can then save and store the image in with the rest of their images.
The app is available now for both iOS and Android users, and it’s free.
