Samsung’s next smartwatch, the Gear S3, will go on sale in the UK on November 18 – marking the tech giant’s first major launch since the Note7 crisis.
The Gear S3 was unveiled earlier this year and Samsung will hope it can take up the mantle as an Apple Watch challenger.
The wearable will be available in two styles – a more minimal Classic version and a sportier, more robust Frontier design.
In terms of upgrades the Gear S3 features Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ for the first time, which provides a more scratch-resistant screen. The display itself is also “always on” for the first time, moving it close to a regular watch in that users won’t need to raise their wrist in order to see the time.
Interestingly the Gear S3 runs on the Tizen operating system as opposed to Android Wear, this means arguably a more polished interface, but slightly less compatibility and support with smartphones.
The smartwatch also contains built-in GPS so exercise enthusiasts can leave their smartphone at home when they go for a run and still track their activity. There’s also internal memory for storing music that can then be played while exercising, again without needing your phone.
For good measure, the Gear S3 is waterproof too.
Should you choose in invest in a Gear S3, either design will cost you £349.
