Hoverboards and segways are the new cool (if slightly unpredictable) way to get around, flying off shelves and always creating the biggest queues at trade shows.

Now British inventor Colin Furze, the man who in the past has created a knife for cutting and toasting bread in one go, has created his own form of hover transport – and it’s quite a sight.

The hoverbike is the result of a campaign with Ford called Unlearn – the idea being to encourage a state of mind that constantly wants to innovate – where viewers of the inventor’s videos on YouTube were asked to leave comments suggesting a new form of transport he could build.

We’re not sure you could use it to get to the shops just yet, but as Colin himself said, it’s not a bad start for something built in a shed.
