His death has left music fans around the world heartbroken, and millions of Spotify users turned to David Bowie’s back-catalogue on the streaming service for comfort.
The music service has reported an increase globally of 2822% in streams of Bowie’s tracks, with the platform responding by releasing a playlist of its own dedicated to the man himself.
As one of the above tweets alludes to, Heroes was the most popular song on Monday, and its number of streams was up by more than 3500%. Let’s Dance was second on the list, and its streams rose by 3942%.
Blackstar and Lazarus – both from the Ziggy Stardust star’s latest album which was only launched last week – also made it into the top five, which was completed by classic Life on Mars. The latter saw the biggest jump in its number of streams, rising by 4238%, according to Spotify.
