Take a closer look at Microsoft's two new Surfaces

Microsoft has just made its biggest device play in some time.

That play is in the form of a revamped Surface Book – the most powerful Microsoft has ever made – and a re-imagining of what a desktop can look like with the Surface Studio.

The Surface Book i7 was introduced with quite a fanfare by Microsoft’s devices chief Panos Panay, who made more than one reference to how the i7 is more powerful than Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The last Surface Book was a roaring success for the Seattle-based firm, and this new hybrid, which keeps the tablet functionality that sees users able to detach the screen to create a tablet.

On the desktop front, the Surface Studio was pretty much the device we were expecting, based on the rumours in the run-up to Microsoft’s event.

Nonetheless, the 28-inch display and stand that folds down to a lower viewing angle for a better drawing and editing is still an impressive sight.

Sadly there’s no confirmed UK pricing for either device just yet.
