Like it or not, Pokemon Go has already become one of the biggest gaming stories of 2016 and it could get even bigger before long, thanks to the addition of more Pokemon.
John Hanke, chief executive and founder of Niantic – the studio behind the game – took part in a Q&A session at Comic-Con where he discussed the astonishing reaction to the game’s release as well as some plans for the future.
Among these plans was confirmation that more Pokemon would be coming to the game in the future.
“Beyond first generation, there are some others that may make their way into our universe,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to finding interesting ways to make that happen in the coming months and years.”
It was also acknowledged that the ongoing issues with servers need to be worked out first while Hanke spoke of a desire to make PokeStops more interesting locations, mainly by giving users more control over what they do.
“That’s a pretty cool idea that you can acquire an object that changes the function of a pokestop and gives it a new ability,” he said.
As far as other additions to the game go, there are said to be features around trading and training being developed already while breeding has also been explored, Hanke said.
However, Hanke added that he did not have a date for any of the new features, much to the disappointment of those listening.
