Singing in the direction of your pregnant partner’s swollen stomach is pointless – or at least that’s what the makers of Babypod, an intravaginal speaker, say.

Instead, if you want your baby to be on the receiving end of the positive effects studies say music has on unborn children, you should buy their speaker and place it inside you.

Babypod claims that when music is played via the vagina it’s much clearer than sound coming from outside, which is usually “about 30 decibels, a volume like a whisper”.

Hearing is the first sense an embryo develops, at around 16 weeks according to research, and it’s claimed that from this age babies can not only hear the sounds but react to them too.

Music is believed to stimulate neurological development in babies, so this could be a very positive purchase – just don’t go playing any Chief Keef through your Babypod. We can’t imagine that would have the desired effect.
