Even in this modern age the weather can still catch us out – and one of the most common examples of this comes when hanging out the washing.
Having drying clothes caught in a shower is something that’s happened to us all – cue annoyance and the need to wash everything all over again. Now Australian detergent OMO firm thinks it might have a tech-based solution.
It’s called peggy – an oversized clothes peg that comes with a built-in range of weather sensors, as well as WiFi connectivity that enables it to connect to your smartphone.
Combined with the OMO app, peggy then sends notifications to your phone if the weather is about to change for the worse.
Not only that, but the app also constantly monitors the weather using the built-in light, humidity and temperature sensors to tell you how long it will take washing on the line to dry.
The app also contains a schedule that can be used to plan washes, with the app giving estimates on how long it will take to dry in the current conditions
The pegs will even nudge users with suggestions on getting out of the house and activities to do.
It’s currently being tested in Australia, with registration open for those who want to take part. The pegs currently require daily charging via USB, something that would no doubt need to be extended if a full-scale commercial launch was ever to take place.
