Uber has come up with a unique way of pacifying drunk passengers who get aggressive with drivers – 90s party game Bop It.

The music and action based toy combines a music beat and voice commands to manipulate the different parts of the handheld toy.

While most Uber passengers, no matter how tipsy, tend to be perfectly fine, there have been plenty of reported instances where drivers have been assaulted by their customers. Given that Uber vehicles generally contain no divide between driver and passengers, like those in taxis, other precautions need to be taken.

And this is the solution Uber has come up with, and is reportedly running a trial in Charlotte, North Carolina to see if leaving the toy on backseats makes a difference.

Uber has actively marketed itself to customers who have had a few drinks, and has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in the US in the past as part of schemes to encourage customers to use its service on a night out rather than attempting to drive.
