The Met Office has updated its official weather app so that users will be told when they need to de-ice their car or when it’s safe to hang out the washing.
Met Office Weather has been available for some time, but an update to the app will now notify users of weather changes that could affect different aspects of how they go about their day.
Notifications on severe weather including ice, fog and snow will be pushed out to users, as will reminders to de-ice the car and bring the washing in because rain is on the way.
It marks something of a re-brand for the app, which is also set to include social media videos for the first time.
Users can also save their favourite locations and receive updates on the changing conditions at each of them.
The update comes just as the BBC revealed that it will be replacing the Met Office with MeteoGroup as its weather provider from next spring.
The app is free to download on both iOS and Android.
