Vine, the Twitter-owned six-second video app, celebrates its third birthday this Sunday.
But the team behind the app are clearly keen to kick off the social media celebrations early, as they have today revealed the top-ten most-watched (or looped as the app calls it) Vines of the last 12 months.
From major news stories to iconic moments that went viral, the list is a predictably varied one.
1. Inside Stade de France during the Paris attacks
The footage carries audio of one of the suicide bombs detonated close to the national stadium.
2. Duck army
What happens when a bin of toy ducks ‘quack’ in unison? This.
3. Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio
Leo playing the part of the naughty school boy giggling in class, perfectly.
4. Say something nice!
One young man did his best to show he wouldn’t miss his mum on the first day of school.
5. When you don’t know the answer
Use ingenuity.
6. Mini basketball fan
It was all going so well, until he broke rule one and celebrated too early.
7. An avocado!
10 points for fake excitement.
8. Poor Jay
Please don’t try this at home.
9. Spinning around
We’ve found our first contestant for a new series of Gladiators.
10. Who is she?
We’ve no idea what number 10 is about either.
As well as the top vines and trends of the year, Vine has launched a dedicated website which celebrates the wider and larger stories behind the vines that have been popular on the site.
“What you see today is just the beginning,” said the app.
“Viners all over the world have shared their stories and entertained each other in an unforgettable year. Here’s to an even more memorable year 4.”
