People are sharing an image of Mark Zuckerberg – first posted on his Facebook account – from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which is, quite frankly, a little terrifying.
Everything from George Orwell’s 1984 to The Matrix has prepared us to be on high alert when seeing images like the one below, which shows the Facebook chief executive striding confidently past his subjects, who are all completely oblivious to the fact.
See for yourself – providing you haven’t already been fitted for a plastic face mask.
Zuckerberg used his surprise appearance at the event to describe virtual reality as “the next platform”, also saying it will be the “most social platform”. The Facebook founder appeared on stage as everyone took off their Samsung Gear VR headsets, used to show attendees Samsung’s new phones for the first time.
Three major VR headsets will be launched in the coming months – HTC’s Vive, Facebook’s Oculus Rift, and PlayStation’s VR – so get ready, it looks like this future could soon be upon us.
