Halloween weekend is looming ever closer, and nothing gets us in the mood for a celebration of ghoulishness like a good scary song. Spotify have revealed their most-searched spooky tunes in the lead up to the 31st.
The most-searched chilling pop hits include Rihanna’s Disturbia, Lady Gaga’s Monster and Alice Cooper’s Poison, while Spotify also revealed that Brits love to sing along to Disney classic the Nightmare Before Christmas, particularly the incredibly catchy This Is Halloween.
Millions across the UK try (and fail) to re-create Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance, as the 1980s hit enjoys a 2,800% increase in plays over the Halloween period.
Spotify also revealed that there are more than one million Halloween-y playlists, including such niche genres as “ghoststep”, “horrorcore”, “grave rave” and “horror punk”.
